Brunch = Breakfast with Booze

I once read a saying that said “Brunch without alcohol is just a sad breakfast…”; I couldn’t agree more. My husband, who was mentioned in previous posts, really hates the word brunch, and I, personally, just don’t get it. What’s not to love about it?! Want a burger and a fruity mimosa? Great! In the mood for an omelette and beer? Why not? Anything goes at brunch – that’s what I love about it! But back to my review…

In Myrtle Beach, you can’t throw a shell without hitting a pancake house. I went on a mission to try all of them when we first moved here, but I quickly ran out of motivation when I realized that after the 10th one, they really all seem pretty much the same with minor difference in specialties. With all this in mind, it’s extremely shocking that there are so few places that have a proper brunch. I have a personal favorite that I’m sure I’ll cover at another time, but this place definitely doesn’t suck. There are two locations, with the location at Barefoot being arguably the nicest. Picture Joanna Gaines meets Nautica with a great menu. There’s something for everyone with really fresh ingredients and plenty of gluten free options. This particular trip I enjoyed a French 75 cocktail with a French Omelette (no, this wasn’t intentional). I’ve also had their Tiramisu martini in prior trips, and it ROCKS! The french omelette has melted brie cheese (just enough, not so much that it feels greasy), pesto, mushrooms, capers, and roasted red peppers. I am such a home fries snob because they must, must, must be crispy or I just can’t… Thankfully, Blueberry grill actually does make their home fries crispy and the buttermilk biscuits aren’t something that I dream about, but they were good too.

Overall, this place is really solid, but you better come here early during the weekends/tourist season or good luck with the wait! I blame this on the lack of suitable brunch options in the area overall; however, that doesn’t diminish the fact that Blueberry Grill is still a great brunch spot.
